Cat’s Eye (1985)
0Plot: Through the eye of the cat, a twisted tail of macabre suspense from the author of CARRIE, The SHINING and THE DEAD ZONE.
Review: Ah now here is a film to watch on a rainy night in. A stray cat links tree stories together that seem to grab you and shake you up a bit, see I’m a big Cat fan so anything with them in it is a plus

The tales told are ‘Quitters’ (based on the novel) about a No Smoking Agency that goes way too far in the ‘No Smoking’ slogan they have. Well acted and with James Woods in it, what more can you ask your? A Stephen King tale told surprisingly well with some shock moments (like another cat in an electric cage, as well as the Wood’ Wife).
‘The Ledge’ concerns a betting game that nearly gets the poor main Cat killed in the process but we’re definitely on the feline’s side here as the more vicious part of him comes out on the rooftop. Tom Hayes acts great in this and the ledge scene is excellent pulled off – makes you dizzy if you’re afraid of heights!
Drew Barrymore (look for her in the ‘Quitters’ tale too!) is the star of the third and final tale and really dos it justice. As a kid she’s allowed to keep the Cat (which she calls ‘General’) as earlier she had found it and they both took to each other greatly. The Mother is this tale is a bit of a bitch, always wanting to get the animal but he’s only protecting her from the…. Guess you’ll just have to wait as I didn’t expect it either when I first watched this years back, it really is a fantastic end piece.
