The Dorm That Dripped Blood (1982)

Plot
Joanne, Patty, Brian, and Craig prepare the old dorm building to be torn down. They are pursued by a serial killer with a wide range of murder methods, ranging from power drill to industrial steam cooker. Is it that spooky weird guy John Hemmit killing off the incidental characters, or is it someone/thing even more terrifying?
Review
An early slasher here from 1982 (released by Vipco as ‘Pranks’), came across this recently again so decided to give it another watch. The film hasn’t aged very well with some minor grain in most scenes but it’s more than watchable with a bonus kill at the start.
The performances are what you’d expect from an 80′s horror but take itself more seriously than other I think. With a little touch-up or remaster it’d be a nice little gem to have.
The only gripe I have is that you never know when it’s night or day as a kill could happen inside (when a few mins before it is night) and next it’s day, nothing big but made me back-track once to see if I missed a scene.
The story is a novel one and with the killer having some good inventive kills (baseball bat with barbed wire) you can’t go wrong for a good bloody night in.
The eerie moments are quite that, which can creep you out a bit – especially with the score that really sets the atmosphere for the stalking and killing off of the cast.

Blood Snow (2009)

Plot
In 2009, six friends arrive at an isolated cabin to enjoy a long weekend in the snow. An epic snowstorm interrupts their vacation, trapping them on the mountain and resurrecting the haunting ghosts of the Donner Party.
Review
The first thing you’ll probably recognise is one of two actors; the first is James Kryson-Lee (from Heroes) and the bald guy from the original ‘Hills Have Eyes – sorry his name escapes me at the moment!
Well the story takes place on a snow mountain and we get some good scenery shots of the landscape but that doesn’t last long as someone (almost always) rolls down a small snow hill. Frightened and wanting to get back they start go back but Jerry (James KL) sees a ghost or spirit in the bushes as he got off his snowmobile.
The Donner Party Massacre starts being explained in the cabin which turns out to be a story about cannibals who haunt that area.
It’s a step above a B movie with some good scares and the action ain’t half bad really. The generator goes as usual and strange noises come out of the blue, oh and did I mention a dead body is found? No reception as usual on their mobiles with some sexual tension going on but I like the tension that builds and the character changes stand out quite a bit.
Definetely worth a rent and if you find it (like I did) for cheap then I’d recommend a purchase.
Oh and nice job on the poster, the title ‘Necrosis’ looked far better.

Plot: A biker comes upon a girl with a flat tire and offers her a ride home. He winds up at a drug party with the girl’s sister, then follows her to a turkey farm owned by her father, a mad scientist. The father turns the biker into a giant turkey monster who goes after drug dealers.
Review: I love these types of films, especially when it involves the animal species getting the upper hand for a change. By animal I mean genetically modified man person who kills drugs dealers.
“To survive, addicts must die” – Gotta love the narration over the trailer.
There’s actually some watchable strangling scenes but the rest are quite badly done. Watch out for the electric saw doing it’s business, a lot of blood gets shed here while the killer just gets up and walks away. Classy.
Oh and before I forgot, you have to see the introduction sequence withe murky water, title screen, and music, damn it just makes me excited thinking about it.
I thought it was going to a full Turkey suit but alas my hopes were dashed when we finally see the main character and it’s a rather water-logged yet pulled apart mask (or head in the film), hmm now I’m starting to like the head…
This deserves a second viewing, if only for that Turkey mask he wears to murder characters with.
It’s available on the ‘Something Weird’ label and is only Region 1 at the moment (Region 0/2 shout-out!)

Plot: Two cannibalistic brothers kill various young women to make their flesh part of their new special dish at their rundown restaurant while seeking blood sacrifices to awaken a dormant Egyptian goddess.
Review: The usual B-Movie message at the start which leads you into family setting with music going and the Mother saying she’ll be back in ten minutes as she’s “ran out of tampons”.
A knife in one hand and his genitals in the other – yes you heard right, that’s exactly what the radio report just said! There’s some door samshing and their Uncle comes in to give the two kids necklaces from the occult. As he runs out – you’ve guessed it shot down bye bye.
A ’20 Years Later’ sign pops up and we’re taken to a guy outside in the woods, then the BLOOD DINER logo appears. Ah yes the two main characters now are the kids from the start, easy. They dig their Uncle up and resurrect him through Sheitar(sp?) and can only rescue his head (how touching).
Basically what they have to do is build the Uncle a body using people they kill and bring back from either the Diner or wherever. Oh and they’re Uncle is one sarcastic git as well.
One of the brothers is always popping out the back or watching wrestling while the other seems to think he’s a lady’s man or something…oh yes and the “I bet she’s a virgin” line from that jerk brain Uncle.
Topless Cheerleading? Too bad they’re dead now.
Oh they’re building a body FOR Sheitar (can anyone tell me if I’m spelling it right) and need each part to be just right of each body – so I take it the kills are all female related then. They now have to find the stomach’s of two tramps – night club then they reckon.
Oh and there’s a talking doll, weird I know but who the hell controls it?
Battered girlfriend is hilarious, her head turns into a big piece of batter – round batter that eventually gets hit off…literally.
Look out for ‘Lamaran Feast’ that keeps getting mentioned, there’s some more killings, gore, even the secret ingredient and the customer keeps wanting to know.
A virgin is needed for the Feast so now the hunt is on, but by this point they’ve found one and he’s been hypnotising her into coming back for the feast.
Ah yes ‘Hunger On’ pills; they place these in the food (and buffet) when business is slow. Still that talking doll freaks me out.
